Call for Papers

Mindful of the rapid growth of the Chinese economy and the unique management challenges the country is facing, a group of overseas Chinese scholars in the area of management science and engineering recently decided to form the above association. The association aims to improve communications between overseas and mainland China scholars, to advance research and teaching in Management Science and Engineering in China, and to understand and improve management practices in China.

Consistent with the association’s goals, the inaugural conference will invite participation from three main groups of people: overseas Chinese scholars, mainland China scholars and students, and industry experts. We seek presentations on the following topic areas:

· Product quality and safety issues

· Corporate social responsibility and environmental management

· Technology and operations management

· Supplier development and management

· Logistics management

· Risk management and responses to emergencies

· Case studies in the above areas

The program committee will select the presentations that are most appropriate for the conference. Priority will be given to presentations that have a significant component of, or especially relevant to, the business operations in China. If you have something that does not fit neatly with the above categories but you think is especially relevant to this conference, please let us know. The program committee will also seek keynote speakers in the above topic areas. If you know of a good candidate for a keynote speech, please let us know as well.

Submission

Please send an extended abstract (3 pages) to Mei Xue at meiuxue@gmail.com by April 30, 2008. The decision whether or not a presentation has been accepted for the conference will be announced by May 20, 2008.

Because some participants may not understand Chinese, the official language of the conference is English and all presentation slides should be in English. However, the oral presentation can be given in Chinese if necessary. Please indicate in your submission if you would like to conduct your oral presentation in Chinese.

To help cover the coffee breaks, meals, and other related expenses, it is requested that each participant make a small contribution.

Overseas scholars $150

Industry participants $150

Mainland scholars ¥600
